Jennifer Templeton Dunn

About Me

I am a lawyer, teacher, scholar, and a passionate advocate for social justice. I am affiliated faculty with the UCSF Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health, with an appointment in the UCSF School of Nursing.

I am also a doctoral candidate in Medical Sociology in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California San Francisco.

My scholarship and advocacy focus on abortion access; respectful maternity care; contraception, sterilization, and eugenics; health care systems and reform; health disparities; and gender equity.

Teaching & Mentorship

I taught at UC Law San Francisco from 2010-2019.  Courses included reproductive health, rights, and justice; global health law and policy; international and comparative health law; women’s health and the law; legal ethics; and professional responsibility.

I have taught multiple courses in Sociology at UC Berkeley, Global Health Law in the UCSF Global Health Sciences Master’s Program, and Women's Health & the Law at UC Berkeley Law. 

Abortion Law & Advocacy

I co-founded the California Abortion Alliance in 2007. I served as the Founding Director from 2010-2021.

I am a member of the California’s Future of Abortion Council.  In December 2021, the FAB Council issued a Report with 45 policy recommendations to protect and expand access to abortion in California.

​

I am on the Advisory Board of TEACH (Training in Early Abortion for Comprehensive Health Care).

Legal Work & Consulting

My consulting practice focuses on laws and regulations governing pregnancy care (abortion, prenatal care, and midwifery).
